Gilded statues of illustrious women from the Olympic opening ceremony on display in the 18th arrondissement of Paris
The whole world discovered them at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, on the Seine, on July 26, 2024: the ten monumental 4-metre-high, gilded statues representing illustrious women from the worlds of the arts, sport and politics. The names are prestigious and historic: Jeanne Barret, Simone de Beauvoir, Olympe de Gouges, Alice Guy, Gisèle Halimi, Louise Michel, Alice Milliat, Paulette Nardal, Christine de Pizan and Simone Veil. As part of the cultural legacy of the Paris 2024 Games - after the Assemblée Nationale - the public is invited to discover them from July 26, 2025, rue de la Chapelle - in the 18th arrondissement of Paris - on a permanent basis.
Get off at Porte de la Chapelle metro station on metro line 12. The statues can be seen on the redeveloped promenade.
