The golden statues of illustrious women from the Olympic Games opening ceremony are on display in the 18th arrondissement
The whole world discovered them at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, on the Seine, on 26 July 2024: the ten monumental 4-metre-high golden statues representing illustrious women from the world of the arts, sport and politics. The names are prestigious and historic: Jeanne Barret, Simone de Beauvoir, Olympe de Gouges, Alice Guy, Gisèle Halimi, Louise Michel, Alice Milliat, Paulette Nardal, Christine de Pizan and Simone Veil. As part of the cultural legacy of the Paris 2024 Games, following their display at the National Assembly, the public will be invited to view them permanently from summer 2025 in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.
