La Cage aux Folles

The famous play adapted for the cinema takes the form of a musical

‘La Cage aux folles’, the famous play by Jean Poiret that was successfully adapted for the cinema, is now being turned into a musical! American composer Jerry Herman wrote the music and lyrics, while Harvey Fierstein wrote the libretto. Played on Broadway in 2004 and 2005, it was hailed by the critics and won numerous awards. The Théâtre du Châtelet will host the show from 5 December to 10 January 2026. Directed by Olivier Py, the plot is set in the cabaret context. On stage, Zaza, played by actor Laurent Lafitte, sings and dances, while in real life, the artist ponders the issue of same-sex parenthood.
