In 2025, the MAC VAL is celebrating 20 years of commitment to contemporary art in France with a new exhibition. The result of a collective curatorship, this exhibition invites the public to rediscover emblematic works from its collection. The exhibition ‘Le genre idéal. En principe, une tentative d'épuisement’ boldly explores the hierarchy of genres in painting, questioning the codes established since the seventeenth century through the striking creations of key and emerging artists.
