From 4 June to 13 July 2026, the Opéra Bastille presents a contemporary version of La Traviata by director Simon Stone. The famous opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi in the 19th century is transposed to present day society where the heroine Violetta is portrayed not as a courtesan, but as a social network star who monetizes her image and digital advice with posts, selfies, and stories in a hyper-connected world. However, Violetta becomes a victim of social conventions in a dramatic love affair with Alfredo, with whom she is infatuated.
