On the third Thursday of November every year, people are invited to raise a toast to Beaujolais Nouveau.
The third Thursday of November each year is the day Beaujolais Nouveau, a red wine, is released for sale. It is a ‘vin primeur’, i.e. a very young wine, and its arrival is fêted in wine cellars and bistros throughout France. Many events are organized all over the country to give the young wine a rousing welcome: dinner parties, festivals open to one and all, concerts, etc. People are invited to gather together and sample the wine, which can taste of banana, red fruit or hazelnut from one year to the next.
