An exploration of Maghreb wedding rituals through costumes, finery and contemporary creations
The "Long Live the Bride!" exhibition reveals the cultural, aesthetic and social importance of weddings in the Maghreb, presenting a selection of rare costumes and finery from Moroccan, Tunisian and Algerian collections, never before exhibited in France. These historic pieces, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, are contrasted with works by eighteen contemporary artists from the Maghreb countries and their diasporas, who take a contemporary look at the rituals, roles and symbols of these celebrations. Immersive scenography, dialogues between heritage and contemporary creation, and collective moments are at the heart of the experience offered by the Arab World Institute.
