The birds of paradise from the forests of New Guinea have fascinated the world for centuries!
The exhibition "Plumes from Paradise. Journeys of an Extraordinary Bird from New Guinea" presented at the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac honors the birds of paradise from the forests of New Guinea. Their fascinating, colorful plumage and unparalleled dance and choreography have nourished the imagination for centuries. Also known as "birds of paradise", these exceptional birds captivated Oceania, Asia and Europe, becoming in turn elements of ornament, symbols of power, ritual objects and sources of inspiration in fashion and the arts. The exhibition's 210 works - ornaments, paintings, naturalized specimens, fashion accessories... - offers a dialogue between natural history, ethnology, artistic creation and ecological reflection. On view until 8 November 2026.
From 10.30am to 7pm. From 10.30am to 10pm Thursday. Closed on Monday.
