Nadar: Inventing Paris, from the Depths to the Sky

A unique exhibition dedicated to the innovations and techniques of photographer Nadar, on display at the Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs of Paris reveal a little-known side of the famous photographer Nadar (1820–1910) through the exhibition “Nadar. Inventing Paris, from the Depths to the Sky,” on view from 29 September to 31 January 2027, as part of the bicentennial celebration of photography. It brings together some fifteen prints and documents highlighting the innovations he pioneered, from aerial photography of Paris to the use of electric lighting in the Catacombs to photograph them.
