"Nature is not a décor" at Maison Caillebotte

Maison Caillebotte, 8 Rue de Concy - 91330 Yerres
From 8 May to 18 October 2026

A major exhibition comparing Claude Monet's vision of landscape with that of ten contemporary artists

From May 8 to October 18, 2026, the Maison Caillebotte is hosting an exceptional exhibition entitled "Nature is not a décor". Presented in the setting of the Ferme Ornée, this event explores the evolution of the feeling for nature in art, from Impressionism to the present day. The exhibition opens with a masterpiece by Claude Monet, "Le Bassin aux Nymphéas" (1917-1919), on loan from the Musée Marmottan Monet. The exhibition highlights the way in which contemporary artists are appropriating the landscape today, no longer as a mere decorative motif, but as a living, powerful and sometimes tormented subject. Through the paintings, prints and sculptures of ten artists - including Markus Lüpertz, Érik Desmazières and Malgorzata Paszko - visitors are invited to reflect on our relationship with the plant and mineral world. An artistic immersion at the heart of a historic site emblematic of the Impressionist adventure.
