Bibliothèque Nationale de France - Site François Mitterrand, Quai François Mauriac - 75706 Paris
From 24 March to 19 July 2026

How humans have drawn up fictional territories from the Middle Ages to the present day!

Until 19 July 2026, the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) - François Mitterrand site is hosting the exhibition ‘Imaginary Maps: Inventing Worlds’. This event brings together 200 exceptional works that trace the way in which humans have mapped out fictional territories from the Middle Ages to the present day. The exhibition offers visitors the chance to discover rare items, ranging from medieval parchments adorned with fantastical creatures to ancient atlases depicting mythical lands such as El Dorado. Organised into four sections, the exhibition places particular emphasis on maps of iconic worlds from literature and pop culture, from *Treasure Island* and *Narnia* to the geographies of *Game of Thrones* and the *Final Fantasy* video game series. A unique interactive installation is also on offer, allowing visitors to explore digital cartography.
From 10am to 7pm. From 1pm to 7pm on Sunday. Closed on Monday and July 14.
