Retrospective dedicated to one of the leading artists of contemporary African American painting
The Picasso Museum presents the first retrospective devoted to Henry Taylor, a leading figure in the contemporary African-American art scene. The artist places human nature at the centre of his work, whether it be friends, relatives, strangers, anonymous individuals or public figures. He imagines visual narratives, drawing inspiration from the works of great artists such as David Hammons and Pablo Picasso, and depicts America and its Black neighbourhoods through his own lens. Around a hundred of his works – sculptures, paintings, installations and painted objects – are brought together for this exhibition. Open from 8 April 2026 to 6 September 2026.
