Gestures from Our Worlds

Organized by the Frac Île-de-France and 32Bis in Tunis as part of the 2026 Mediterranean Season, this group exhibition explores archives, memory, and gesture through the work of artists from the southern shore of the Mediterranean

From September 13 to November 14, 2026, Les Réserves du Frac Île-de-France in Romainville will host “Des gestes de nos mondes,” a group exhibition developed in partnership with the 32Bis art center in Tunis and part of the 2026 Mediterranean Season. The exhibition transforms the archive into an active site of intervention rather than a mere repository. The artists draw on objects, memories, documents, and everyday gestures to reinterpret and revitalize the narratives of the Mediterranean region. The exhibition features works from the Frac Île-de-France collection (Kapwani Kiwanga, Djamel Tatah, Safouane Ben Slama, Djabril Boukhenaïssi...) with works by artists based in Tunisia or from the southern shore of the Mediterranean. New works by Tunisian artists Aymen Mbarki and Ahmed Ben Nessib, created during their residency at the Fiminco Foundation, are presented alongside textile, ceramic, video, and photographic installations.
