On view in the Jeu de Paume gallery at the Château de Chantilly from June 6 to October 4, 2026, the exhibition “From Naples to Chantilly” highlights the little-known role of Caroline Murat, Napoleon I’s younger sister and Queen of Naples. A true “queen of the arts,” this visionary patron built a remarkable collection in the early 19th century, supporting great artists such as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Antonio Canova, while developing a passion for the archaeological excavations at Pompeii and Herculaneum. Through major loans and an exceptional gathering of works from the Musée Condé, the exhibition—spanning from history paintings to views of Vesuvius, including sculptures and previously unseen antiquities—invites visitors on a fascinating journey from the Élysée Palace to the majestic landscapes of the Bay of Naples.
