The history of modern and contemporary photography as seen through the lens of two enthusiasts' exceptional collection!

The exhibition “Fragile Beauty. Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection” on view through 24 September 2026, at the Jeu de Paume, offers a unique immersion into the prestigious private collection of more than 7,000 photographs by Sir Elton John and David Furnish, passionately assembled over more than thirty years. More than 300 iconic prints dating from the 1950s to the present day by over 90 photographers - including Robert Mapplethorpe, Nan Goldin, Diane Arbus, and Irving Penn - highlight the two collectors’ unique perspective on the history of modern and contemporary photography. Five thematic sections explore and highlight the constant tension between the strength and vulnerability inherent in the human condition.
