Byblos, Lebanon's ancient city

Institut du monde arabe, 1 rue des Fossés Saint-Bernard Place Mohammed V - 75005 Paris
From 24 March to 23 August 2026

The history of Byblos, Lebanon's ancient port city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, can be discovered at the Institut du Monde Arabe

The new exhibition ‘Byblos, cité millénaire du Liban’ (Byblos, Lebanon's Millennial City) at the Institut du Monde Arabe (Arab World Institute) reveals the history of Byblos, Lebanon's millennial port and city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Kings, pharaohs, navigators and merchants crossed paths in this port, which in ancient times linked the Lebanese coast to Egypt, Greece and Mesopotamia. Nearly 400 exceptional artefacts presented in a spectacular setting retrace the epic history of the city, dating back to 8900 BC. The exhibition also presents previously unseen archaeological discoveries: the southern gate of the city and an intact necropolis dating from the Bronze Age. Open from 24 March to 23 August 2026.
From 10am to 6pm. From 10am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Closed on Monday.
€15. Reduced rate: from €7 to €13.
