The Maison Élysée is presenting an exhibition tracing the history of Fort Brégançon, from its Merovingian origins to its role as a presidential residence and a major center of French diplomacy
This summer, the Maison Élysée Museum invites the public to explore behind the scenes and the history of Fort Brégançon through a unique exhibition. Perched on a rock 35 meters above sea level overlooking the Mediterranean, this site of Merovingian origin initially served as a military fortification before becoming, in 1968, the official residence of the presidents of the French Republic. The exhibition traces the fort’s architectural transformations over the centuries and highlights its key role in the presidential life of the Fifth Republic as well as in international diplomacy. For this occasion, the exhibition features exceptional objects and loans from the Mobilier National, the Musée de l’Armée, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. A game booklet is also available for children, offering a fun way for families to explore the exhibition together.
