Damiano Michieletto's interpretation of Gaetano Donizetti's mischievous opera buffa
From 12 June to 10 July 2027, the Palais Garnier presents Gaetano Donizetti's facetious opéra bouffe "Don Pasquale". A rich, elderly bachelor looking for a young wife, his nephew's infatuation with her, and a farce about an inheritance - these are the twists and turns that form the broad outlines of the libretto of Don Pasquale (1843). More than 180 years after its premiere in Paris and its success on the stage, the operatic work by one of Italy's greatest composers is given a new lease of life in this version by director Damiano Michieletto, who plays with both our own time and that of the 18th century.
