Athénée théâtre Louis-Jouvet, 2 Square de l'Opéra-Louis Jouvet - 75009 Paris
From 12 to 13 June 2026
Ten young artists reinvent Boccaccio's masterpiece in a theatrical celebration that breaks down the boundaries between opera, speech and acting.
The Athénée Théâtre Louis-Jouvet presents Décaméron, a creation that challenges the conventions of traditional opera. Ten young performers take over an abandoned theatre to ward off the chaos outside by telling stories, mirroring the pact sealed by Boccaccio's characters in the Middle Ages. Here, only the collective embodies this whirlwind of bawdy, cruel or burlesque tales. Matteo Franceschini's score, combined with Caroline Leboutte's staging, infuses the troupe with an energy that blurs the boundaries between song, text and gesture. For French-speaking audiences only.
