To mark its move to the Place du Palais Royal, the Fondation Cartier is unveiling a major exhibition of its collection retracing 40 years of contemporary creation
On the occasion of its move to the Place du Palais Royal in the heart of Paris, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain is inaugurating its new venue with a general exhibition of the Collection, from October 25, 2025 to August 23, 2026. This unprecedented retrospective highlights 40 years of contemporary creation through the major works in its collection. Conceived as an alternative encyclopedia of contemporary art, the exhibition reflects the foundation's singular identity, shaped by its programming. The public will have the opportunity to discover and rediscover nearly 600 works by more than 100 artists from around the world, including Claudia Andujar, James Turrell, Sarah Sze, Olga de Amaral, Junya Ishigami, Solange Pessoa, David Lynch, Annette Messager, Cai Guo-Qiang, Diller Scofidio + RENFRO, and Chéri Samba. The new building, designed by Jean Nouvel to open fully onto the city, becomes a living space, reactivating the links between architecture, art and the public. A dive into the history of an emblematic site and of the international art scene.
