Opéra national de Paris - Palais Garnier, Place de l'Opéra - 75009 Paris
From March 15, 2024 to April 1, 2024
Discover choreographer Frederick Ashton's version of this famous pantomime ballet at the Palais Garnier.
The Palais Garnier presents La Fille mal gardée, from 15 March to 1 April 2024. Created in 1789 at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux by Jean Dauberval, this ballet-pantomime offers a joyous look at the world of peasants, which inspired the English choreographer Frederick Ashton in 1960 to create a version full of humour and freshness that has become a benchmark. As Lise and Colas fall in love, Simone, the young woman's mother, imagines a completely different destiny for her daughter and organises her marriage to Alain, a foolish but rich man.
