An unprecedented retrospective of the Milanese artist Appiani, whose work shaped the Napoleonic legend in Italy

The Château de Bois-Préau is hosting an exceptional exhibition dedicated to Andrea Appiani, one of the most talented neoclassical painters and decorators in northern Italy. Nicknamed the ‘painter of graces’ for his attention to detail and delicacy, he contributed to Napoleon's rise in Italy. From victorious general to king of Italy, via president of the first Italian Republic, Appiani helped to construct the image of a glorious and powerful Napoleon.
