The Musée d'Orsay is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a unique lineup of festive events: poetry readings in November, a big festive weekend, and an anniversary party organized by Thomas Jolly

In December 2026, the Musée d'Orsay will celebrate its 40th anniversary with an exceptional program of festive and artistic events to mark four decades of creativity in the heart of the former train station. On November 19, 2026, author and illustrator Catherine Meurisse will present a illustrated reading, while visual artist Sophie Calle will share her intimate perspective on the museum’s collection on November 26, 2026. On December 5 and 6, 2026, the museum will open its doors to the public free of charge for an exceptional anniversary weekend. The weekend’s program includes artistic interventions, offbeat tours, visual performances by actress Christine Bonneton, and musical interludes led by the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra. On December 12, 2026, to bring these celebrations to a close, the museum’s main hall will be transformed into a gigantic dance floor for a festive party-which promises to be exceptional-conceived and orchestrated by director Thomas Jolly, the same director who staged the ceremonies for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. A memorable 40th-anniversary program set amid Impressionist masterpieces!
Hours vary depending on the event. The party on December 12, 2026, starts at 7pm
