THEATRE/CONCERT HALL

Sunset-Sunside

60 rue des Lombards - 75001 Paris Châtelet - Les Halles
In the heart of Paris, the Sunset-Sunside is one of the iconic venues of the Parisian jazz scene. Founded in 1982, it was the first jazz club to open on Rue des Lombards, now recognized worldwide as the “jazz street.”

The Sunset’s history began in vaulted cellars shaped like a subway station. Drawn by the exceptional acoustics, musicians flocked to the venue, and the Sunset quickly became a hub for creativity and artistic collaboration, hosting legends of jazz fusion and jazz-rock before expanding its lineup to include all styles of jazz.

Over the decades, the club has established itself as an essential destination. Its warm atmosphere, the unique closeness between artists and the audience, and the high standards of its programming attract the biggest names in international jazz. Legends such as Michel Petrucciani, Jaco Pastorius, Christian Vander, Chet Baker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Martial Solal, Roy Haynes, Avishai Cohen, Lee Konitz, Paolo Fresu, Didier Lockwood, and Wynton & Branford Marsalis have left their mark on the venue’s history through memorable concerts and jam sessions that have become legendary.

The Sunset-Sunside has also played a pivotal role in the emergence of numerous talents. True to its motto, “the club for all jazz,” it has always provided a stage for artists of the new generation while welcoming the leading figures of contemporary jazz. Many musicians who are now internationally renowned took their first steps there or forged a special bond with the Parisian audience.

In 2001, the opening of the Sunside rounded out the venture. The two neighboring venues now form a unique complex. The Sunset is dedicated to jazz fusion, blues, soul, funk, and world music, while the Sunside showcases acoustic jazz. Together, they offer a premier daily lineup 365 days a year, featuring several concerts every evening.

The year is also punctuated by our legendary Monday jam sessions, Sunday concerts for children, the Sunside Awards in September, and our festivals: Paris Jazz Voice in June, Pianissimo in July and August, Jazz sur Seine in October, and the Jazz Marathon in December.

The Sunset-Sunside has been the benchmark for jazz in Paris for nearly 50 years and remains a place of discovery, transmission, and sharing—a true reflection of jazz’s vitality and an unmissable destination for jazz lovers.

Jazz on every floor for every kind of jazz!
