Boulevard Saint-Denis - 75010 Paris
Opéra - Grands Boulevards
Standing on the Boulevard Saint-Denis, the Porte Saint-Denis is a monumental triumphal arch built in 1672 by the architect François Blondel and the sculptor Michel Anguier to the glory of Louis XIV. Constructed on the site of an old gate that was part of the city wall of Charles V, the 25-metre-high monument is dedicated to the king's victories in Holland and is inspired by the Arch of Titus in Rome. It marks the entrance to the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, a district lined with trendy bars.
