This unusual place invites you off the beaten track in Paris for a total change of scenery. It house a collection of objects from fairgrounds and shows of the 19th century in a surprising setting, former wine warehouses with their private garden-street. Freed from the usual information panels and display cases, this living museum is accessible only through guided tours. It is possible to register as an individual visitor. At Christmas time, the museum organizes a colourful and magical festival, the Festival du Merveilleux. During the festival, bookings are not necessary and a large programme of shows is offered.
The Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment has awarded the label of Living Heritage Company to the Museum of Fairground Arts for its know-how in the preservation, restoration and presentation of fairground heritage objects and shows.
