Père-Lachaise - Ménilmontant
Built on Ménilmontant hill between 1863 and 1880, the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Croix impresses the viewer by its situation on a steep slope and its size. The building is 97 metres long, with a 78-metre-high bell tower and a monumental staircase with 54 steps. The neo-Romanesque style church has neo-Gothic elements and features a nave with metal vaults, designed by the architect Louis-Jean Antoine Héret. Inside, the visitor can admire the organ by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the Sacred Heart chapel and 19th century paintings.
