Memorial to the victims of Agent Orange

Parc de Choisy - 128 avenue de Choisy - 75013 Paris Place d’Italie – Chinese district
To complement the unveiling of the stele, take advantage of your visit to the Parc de Choisy to discover the educational exhibition set up on the outside railings. Through archive documents and explanatory texts, this exhibition traces the history of Agent Orange, the environmental and health consequences of its use, and the legal battles fought to obtain justice.
Parc de Choisy, in the 13th arrondissement, is now home to the first memorial site in France and Europe dedicated to the victims of Agent Orange. The project is the brainchild of the Collectif Vietnam-Dioxine and the Comité de soutien à Tran To Nga. It pays tribute to the millions of people affected by the use of this toxic herbicide during the Vietnam War, between 1961 and 1971. The memorial space is structured around two key elements. The stele: a glass work illustrated by visual artist Kim Doan Quoc, recalling the duty to remember and the quest for reparation for the victims. The Davidia involucrata: nicknamed the "handkerchief tree", planted at the end of 2025, this tree symbolizes the resilience of ecosystems and the path towards peace. The memorial recalls the tragic consequences of Operation Ranch Hand, during which 80 million liters of chemicals were dumped in South Vietnam and the border areas of Laos and Cambodia. This spraying caused lasting contamination of the soil and water, impacting the health of several generations. This site is intended as a place of remembrance, recognition and education on this dark chapter in international relations.
