Book now
Dedicated to the transmission of Serge Gainsbourg’s work, Maison Gainsbourg is a new cultural institution that offers an experience on two distinct sites on rue de Verneuil in Paris (7th) :

-5 bis: the historic house in which Serge Gainsbourg lived for 22 years, a legendary location that has remained intact since his death in 1991;

-across the street, at number 14: a museum retracing the life and career of the artist, a book and gift shop and Le Gainsbarre, a café and piano bar, allowing visitors a chance to extend their visit.

A heritage site, cultural space, as well as a destination for sharing art and music, Maison Gainsbourg offer a cultural programme in situ, digitally and beyond its walls. It is dedicated to making its collection known as widely as possible, and to enrich general public knowledge of Serge Gainsbourg’s work in all its facets.

Restaurant:

A café and piano bar in Maison Gainsbourg, the Gainsbarre is inspired by the early years of Serge Gainsbourg's musical career, when he worked as a pianist in the bars and cabarets of the capital. Its décor reproduces the atmosphere created by Serge Gainsbourg in his house at 5 bis rue de Verneuil. He uses the same aesthetic and materials. Throughout the day, it welcomes the museum public. In the evening, the lights are dimmed and the Gainsbarre is transformed into a cosy cocktail bar. Three in-house pianists - Philippe Ours, Ciarri Winter and Florent Garcimore - take turns playing classical, jazz and blues standards inspired by those played by Serge Gainsbourg in his day.
