The Musée du Fumeur was founded in 2001. It brings together plants, works of art and objects related to an ancestral practice: smoking. These collections bear witness to the evolution of behaviours over the centuries and are designed to encourage reflection on the act of smoking, which was originally brought back from the Americas by Christopher Columbus and, in five centuries, has become a global phenomenon. The 26 themes illustrate the panorama of smoking through the centuries and cultures.
