La Danse de la fontaine émergente

Place Augusta Holmes - 75013 Paris Gare d'Austerlitz - Bibliothèque nationale de France F. Mitterrand
The Dance of the Emerging Fountain is a street art installation created by Franco-Chinese artist Chen Zhen. It was commissioned by the Paris City Council for the Paris Rive Gauche district and inaugurated in 2008. The monumental glass and metal structure represents the body of a dragon emerging by segments from the walls of the nearby buildings and from an underground water treatment facility. The water circulating under high pressure is visible inside the dragon’s transparent coils. At night, the sculpture is illuminated.
