Porte Maillot - Monceau
The Sainte-Odile church and public garden are situated in the 17th arrondissement, near to the Porte de Champerret. Saint-Odile church was built in the middle of the 20th century and its architecture was inspired by Byzantine buildings. The structure is made of reinforced concrete but part of it is covered with pink Saverne sandstone bricks – also used for the cathedral of Strasbourg - The church has three domes and a 72-metre-high bell tower. The interior is just as elegant: sculpted tympanum, capitals, monumental glass windows with a total surface area of 300 m², hammered-glass altar, mosaics, and enamel... The pleasant Sainte-Odile public garden is undulating and has a number of remarkable trees, flowerbeds, and a playground.
