Écomusée du Grand-Orly Seine Bièvre

Situated in Fresnes, a southern surburb of Paris, The Ecomusée takes an interest in issues that concern the local population and their way of life (urban planning, work, TV, donations, immigration, women's position in society, their ambitions and their memories, etc.). In order to attain its objectives, The Ecomusée works with local inhabitants to put together temporary exhibitions and animations which result from research, collecting of objects and putting scripts together. The participation of the locals is what ensures the success of the museum. Objects are collected under different themes and a record is taken of the name of the person that would have used it. In 2008, the collection comprised of around 1,000 various objects including a Solex moped, a headscarf illustrated with symbols from the Liberation and items of clothing that belonged to a rapper.

Closed in August and from December 24 to January 1 inclusive.

Exhibition spaces: Wednesday and Saturday, 10am to noon and 2pm to 6pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and holidays, 2pm to 6pm.

Disability

The Ecomuseum often welcomes groups of mentally disabled people. For visitors with reduced mobility: vehicules are authorized to enter and park in the farm's courtyard (ask by telephone in advance). All access are floor level but the ground of the courtyard and of the exhibition room is covered with convex pavement. Only the ground cover of the temporary exhibition room is smooth. WC adapted.
