Château de Versailles

An architectural ensemble that traces the development of 17th- and 18th-century architecture. Together with the gardens, the national estate is one of the world's most illustrious heritage monuments: the royal apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, the Chapel, the Royal Opera House and the Museum of French History. The park is adorned with statues, fountains, water beds and exceptional buildings: Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, Temple de l'Amour, Hameau de la Reine Marie-Antoinette. Following the restoration of the Grille Royale and the Petit Trianon, the Opéra Royal opened its doors in 2009 after two years of renovation: it now welcomes the public with an exceptional program. Since October 2010, the king's table has once again been set in the Grand Couvert antechamber, which has been completely restored and reopened to the public. The aim is to recreate the atmosphere of the dinner that King Louis XIV established and held in public with his family every day at 10pm, lasting 45 minutes! The Château de Versailles has a reception and information area for individual visitors, where all offers have been grouped together (sale of "château tickets", one-day and two-day passports, guided tours). This area is located in the first building (south Ministers' wing), on the left-hand ramp after passing through the main entrance.

Free admission on the 1st Sunday of the month from November 1 to March 31. Free admission for European Union citizens under 26, and 1st and 2nd grade teachers (excluding temporary exhibitions). Free admission for jobseekers and those on minimum social benefits.

10€. In French and English. Reservations required on site on the day or at www.chateauversailles.fr.
The Queen's House can be visited by small groups.
