With a Tourist Guide

Find out more about Paris’s heritage on a guided tour with a Tourist Guide

Follow the guide!

What a pleasure it is to discover the heritage of Paris in the company of a Tourist Guide who tells you all about the history of a place in your own language! But be careful, not just anyone is qualified to be a Tourist Guide!

The profession of ‘Tourist Guide’ is regulated by the law of 13 July 1992, amended by the French 'Tourism' law of 22 July 2009. For tours inside museums, monuments and chateaux, only licensed Tourist Guides with a professional card are authorized to be your guide.

The services of these guides, who are graduates in foreign languages, history and art history, may be offered by a travel agency or by the museum or monument that you wish to visit. Some of these guides work independently and offer new tours that you will find in our fact files.

All the companies and associations of independent and experienced interpreter guides listed on our website only employ licensed guides. For tours outside only (shopping, gastronomy, etc.), a license is not obligatory.
