A step backwards
Tourist numbers between June and the start of the Olympic Games will be down on previous years.
Forecasts for international air arrivals are down for almost all markets, by -8.0% in June and -14.6% between July 1 and 20. The average hotel rate in metropolitan France reaches 232€ per night for the first 20 days of July, compared to 202€ for the whole month of July 2023.
Expected air arrivals during the Olympic Games are up +28.3% for North America and +35.0% for Europe. The top three foreign ticket-buying markets are Great Britain, the United States and Germany.
In the Île-de-France region, the Olympic Games are expected to generate between 6.7 and 11.1 billion euros in economic spin-offs, according to the Centre de droit et d'économie du sport (CDES). In the median scenario (9 billion euros
nearly 30% of this is attributable to the tourism sector alone, estimated at 2.67 billion euros.
METROPOLIS EVENT
More than 600,000 visitors are expected to attend the Roland Garros tennis tournament, from May 20 to June 9, 2024.

HOTEL BOOKING RATE
Occupancy forecasts to date for the first ten days of June average 65%. This forecast is down -5pts on last year.
