FRAMEWORK AND OUTLOOK

A TIPPING POINT BETWEEN MAY AND JUNE
The next two months will mark a turning point between a spring period conducive to tourist activity and the pre-Olympic Games summer period. The outlook is as follows:

• A positive outlook for May, boosted by the long weekends and the four Taylor Swift concerts. American customers are expected to increase over the month (+12.5% vs. 2023 and +23.3% vs. 2019), particularly on the days preceding the concerts (+43.5% vs. 2023 and +45.2% vs. 2019). Conversely, European customers continue to decline (- 3.4% of expected arrivals in May vs. 2023).
• In June, international tourist numbers are expected to mark time. To date, the outlook for international air arrivals is down -9.6% on 2023 and -11.2% on 2019. Almost all markets are affected, including North America (-10.3% vs 2023) and the European markets (-12.1%). This trend will continue until the start of the Games.
• The number of flights scheduled with China over the next two months is down 47.5% on 2019. South American markets continue to experience difficulties (-7.2% vs 2023).

METROPOLITAN EVENT
Taylor Swift will be giving four concerts at the Paris La Défense Arena between 9 and 12 May. Nearly 160,000 spectators are expected to attend.

AIRLINE AND HOTEL BOOKINGS

INTERNATIONAL AIR ARRIVALS FORECAST
+5.4% to date vs. 2023, and +4.1% vs. 2019.
Expected arrivals of leisure tourists up +6.2% to date vs. 2023; business arrivals up +2.3%.

HOTEL RESERVATION RATE AT 22 APRIL
To date, occupancy forecasts for the first weekends in May are above 70%, as in 2023.

FOCUS JOP 2024
The Olympic flame will arrive in Marseille on 8 May. It will pass through more than 400 towns and villages until 26 July.

International air arrivals for Paris are up 25.6% on 2023 for the Olympic Games; down 10.7% for the Paralympic Games.

Hotel prices - Greater Paris: average prices to date are €411 during the Olympic period and €216 during the Paralympic Games. In Greater Paris, they were €202 in July 2023 and €161 in August 2023.
