Château de Vincennes

A symbol of the modern state. The building affirms royal power: it protects the capital but also guarantees kings against its uprisings. He was the heart of the French monarchy until 1682, when Louis XIV preferred Versailles to him. The keep served as a prison from the 16th century until the 19th century: Fouquet, the Marquis de Sade or Mirabeau were detained there. Transformed into barracks and arsenal by Napoleon I, the fortress protects Paris during the invasions of the 19th century.

-Physical disability: free parking next to the Parc Floral, possible for a quick drop off (please state and organize when reserving). The Château de Vincennes is partially accessible (outside areas, ground floor from donjon). Accompanying person required (cobbles, 4% inclining slope). The donjon floors and châtelet are not accessible. Adapted toilets available.
