The exhibition at the Petit Palais invites visitors to trace the life of Sarah Bernhardt and discover all her artistic talents.
It was for her that Jean Cocteau invented the expression ‘monstre sacré’ (‘a giant of the stage’). At the turn of the 20th century, Sarah Bernhardt was a renowned international star. A part of this exhibition is devoted to her world tours.
To mark the centenary of her death, the expo ‘Sarah Bernhardt. And the woman created the star’ at the Petit Palais from 14 April to 27 August 2023 presents more than 400 works that trace her life. Among these are sculptures by Sarah Bernhardt, who was not only an actress but also a painter, a sculptor, and a writer.
You will discover her stage costumes, photos, paintings, posters, and many objects from her day-to-day life.
