Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat combine their talent to produce some of the masterpieces of contemporary and underground art

After the success of the exhibition ‘Jean-Michel Basquiat’ in 2018, the Fondation Louis Vuitton once again pays tribute to the artist and reveals his prolific collaboration with Andy Warhol. Show runs from 5 April to 28 August 2023.

These are two talented New York artists. Andy Warhol, renowned internationally for his Pop Art, and Jean Michel Basquiat, pioneer of the underground movement, formed a friendship. The former found in Basquiat a renewed artistic creativity. The latter admired Warhol and took inspiration from this key artist of the 20th century.

Between 1984 and 1985 they created around 160 paintings together ‘with four hands’. At this time, both artists were at the height of their respective careers.

Through comparative portraits, the exhibition Basquiat X Warhol. Painting Four Hands takes a look at each of the artists, before showing artistic works resulting from their collaboration, including numerous paintings, collages, mise en scènes …
A must-see for fans of contemporary art

Excellent museum. Exhibition highlight of my trip to Paris. Well worth prebooking ticket as lines for entry were long and ticket gave you priority entry. Bus for museum left by Arc de Triomphe regularly.

My ticket included the shuttle and skip-the-line access. That made things so easy. I went for the Warhol-Basquiat exhibition, which was outstanding. The Gehry building is a bonus. Unfortunately, I did not have time to fully explore it.
