Hit or miss

I went on this cruise in July 2024 with my husband. We loved it. Delicious food, fantastic service, and all around great. Fast forward a year and we took my parents in July 2025. The food was decent, but a noticeable downgrade from last year, and the service was okay. Nothing about the experience “wow-ed” or really left an impression. I’m hoping it was an anomaly. Wasn’t bad but also wasn’t great. It was solidly okay.

Everything was great, the application is clear, prices are acceptable. The card and its tickets work great in the Wallet app on the iPhone. I have only good memories related to using it.

What is celebrated on 14 July?

This national celebration commemorates two major events: the storming of the Bastille in 1789 and the Fête de la Fédération in 1790. The first marks the uprising of the Parisian people against the absolute monarchy, symbolised by the storming of this royal prison, which had become the emblem of arbitrary rule.
A year later, the Fête de la Fédération brought together 300,000 people at the Champ-de-Mars to celebrate the restoration of unity. Louis XVI swore allegiance to the Constitution, sealing a historic moment of national reconciliation.
The date officially became a public holiday in 1880, during the Third Republic, thanks to a law passed by MP Benjamin Raspail. Since then, this day has embodied the fundamental values of liberty, equality and fraternity that form the foundation of the French Republic.
