The new temple of French viticulture
Les Piqueurs is a company founded in 2020 by two friends driven by the same passion: to unearth the star of tomorrow in each appellation.
These hedonistic wine merchants were inspired by the "Piqueurs of modern times", referring to an old trade dating back to Napoleon, which involved going to Cour Saint-Emilion in Paris to prick barrels with a gimlet to check whether the wines conformed to the appellations. They spent many months scouring France in search of bottles that were often little-known but always delightful, and their narrow selection means that they can offer bottles at prices very close to those on the estate.
Driven by a desire to preserve the planet's natural equilibrium, the two partners have chosen to highlight the importance of committed viticulture, and this is reflected in their selection of organic, biodynamic, High Environmental Value and natural wines. This selection is available on the Les Piqueurs website, as well as in their new, incredibly refined showcase, located in Montmartre at the foot of the Sacré Coeur in Paris's 18th arrondissement.
The cellar boasts a veritable collection of confidential cuvées, iconic wines to be tasted by the glass, and an avalanche of artisanal charcuterie made from heavy Southwestern pork, not to mention a magnificent duck foie gras with no additives or colorants from the Rey house... pure happiness! And so it is that every evening, except Tuesdays, as the office hours draw to a close, all the capital's oenophiles make their way through the crowd to sample the duo's new finds, and start agapes that sometimes tend to go on and on.
Graduates of a BTS in viticulture and WSET 3 respectively, Les deux Piqueurs offer guided oenological tastings based on a variety of themes, taking you on a journey through the whole of France's vineyards. These are real moments of fun and relaxed exchange, allowing you to discover the mysteries of France's fabulous terroir. At Les Piqueurs, everything is as good as in the pig!
