Top secret

Book
La Cinémathèque française, 51 rue de Bercy - 75012 Paris
From October 21, 2022 to May 21, 2023

The new exhibition at the Cinémathèque takes a look at films about spies and their heroes throughout history .

The exhibition Top Secret explores the theme of espionnage in cinema. Presented at the Cinémathèque from 21 October 2022 to 21 May 2023, it focuses on films and actors  who have played a spy role, whether fictional or historical, representing characters ranging from    Mata Hari to James Bond, Jason Bourne, and Edward Snowden. The plots in the films set against a backdrop of war or tension between countries resonate with the history of a century. The exhibition displays unusual gadgets, costumes, archives and works of art that illustrate this film genre and also seeks to deconstruct a 'sexist' representation of the figure of the female spy by highlighting their strategic contribution.
