A retrospective exhibition honours the Franco-German artist and photographer
The Jeu de paume devoting a retrospective to Thomas Demand, a contemporary Franco-German artist and photographer. From 14 February to 28 May 2023, the exhibition titled Thomas Demand, The Stutter of History presents the artist's work through 70 works, exploring mostly indoor scenes related to history or historical figures. Devoid of human presence and frozen in appearance, the photographic views reveal themselves to be reconstructions of scenes, based on media images, recreated by the artist with sculpted cardboard and then photographed. Through his work, Thomas Demand invites us to question our relationship with historical events in a world filled with images.
From 11am to 7pm (until 9pm on Tuesdays). Closed on Mondays and 1 May.
