From 13 October 2023 to 11 February 2024, the Musée de Montmartre is presenting a major exhibition on the Swiss artist, Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923), emblematic of late 19th-century Montmartre.
The exhibition traces the career of this multi-faceted artist, who was a draughtsman, engraver, painter, and a sculptor. Well-known for his decorations for the Chat Noir cabaret, Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen was a socially committed artist who denounced social injustice.
The Musée de Montmartre has brought together around a hundred works for the occasion, including oil paintings, graphic works, and sculptures.
