For fifty years, the Soyer family distinguished themselves in Paris through their mastery of the art of enamel painting - a skill that was in vogue at the end of the 19th century. The Musée d'Orsay's collection of preparatory drawings provides an insight into the creative process (design, creation of motifs, choice of colours and materials, etc.) and the inventiveness of this line of Parisian enamellerswho embraced Neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau styles and who were attentive to the trends of the time.
