Opéra national de Paris - Opéra Bastille, Place de la Bastille - 75012 Paris
From April 29, 2025 to May 28, 2025
Discover the Italian composer's original work on the stage of the Opéra Bastille, which combines three one-act operas.
From 29 April to 28 May 2025, the Opéra Bastille will be presenting ‘Il Trittico’ or ‘The Triptych’, the original work by Giacomo Puccini composed of three one-act operas each showcasing three different operatic registers: a tragic drama with ‘Il Tabarro’, a sentimental and lyrical story with ‘Suor Angelica’ and a comedy with ‘Gianni Scicchi’. The operas take place in three different places, three different eras and three different social environments, immersing the audience in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century, the atmosphere of a 17th-century convent and life in Florence in the Middle Ages. For this entry in the repertoire of the Opéra national de Paris, the director Christof Loy has proposed a revisited version that does not follow the established order of the Italian composer's work but rather a progression from comedy to drama.
Performance in Italian with French/English surtitles.
