Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, 37 quai Jacques Chirac - 75007 Paris
From November 22, 2022 to May 28, 2023
An exhibition retracing the history of the kimono, over more than a thousand years.
The Musée du quai Branly presents an exhibition on the subject of the Kimono, from 22nd of november 2022 to 28th of may 2023.
The show traces the history of this traditional Japanese garment, from its appearance over 1,000 years ago to the present day, through its golden age in the Edo period (1603-1868) where it became a principal item of dress. Exported to the West from 1850, this garment has inspired many fashion designers including John Galliano and Alexander McQueen. The exhibition has been designed by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
