The humanist engagement of the famous comic book hero Spirou during the Second World War in occupied Belgium

With the exhibition 'Spirou dans la tourmente de la Shoah' (‘Spirou in the troubled period of the Shoah’), the Mémorial de la Shoah looks back at the Second World War. Based on the comic strip series Spirou, L'espoir malgré tout ('Hope in spite of everything') by Emile Bravo, this exhibition, which runs until 30 August 2023, recounts the humanist engagement of the comic book hero Spirou in occupied Belgium. The famous comic book character meets the German-Jewish painter Felix Nussbaum and his wife Felka Platek, two artists who really existed and were deported. The third part of the series was awarded a prize at the Festival of Angoulême in 2022.
From 10 am to 6 pm. From 10 am to 10 pm on Thursday. Closed on Saturday, 6, 12 April and 26 May 2022.
