A unique exhibition the Olympic Games as a reflection of the values and prejudices of society over a century of history

The exhibition Paris 1924-2024: the Olympic Games, a mirror of society? presented at the Shoah Memorial from 29 March to 31 December 2024, explores a century of the Olympics from the unique angle of the values, prejudices and discriminations conveyed by society. Images, films, archives, testimonials, and press extracts illustrate how the Olympic Games can convey a message of peace and tolerance but how the Games can also be misused for political ends. The exhibition focuses on the Games held in Berlin in 1936 during the Nazi era, and the internment of athletes in the Drancy camp during the Second World War. The exhibition is laid out in themed spaces, where a range of sound, audiovisual and multimedia devices provide a unique immersive experience.
